Who we are

Elixir Audits, Chartered Accountants is a firm of chartered accountants licensed by the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana, with its office at 1 Alex Nkrumah Street, Airport West, Accra, Ghana.

For the purposes of the Data Protection Act 2012 (Act 843), we are the data controller for personal data collected through this website and in the course of providing our services.

What we collect

We collect only what we need for the purpose we collected it for.

WhereWhat we collectWhy
Proposal and contact formsName, company, email, telephone, financial year end, the brief you write, and any documents you attachTo prepare a proposal and respond to your enquiry
Financial Health CheckBusiness name if you give it, sector, turnover band, your answers, and your email if you ask for the reportTo generate your result and, if you ask, to send it to you
NewsletterEmail addressTo send the briefing you subscribed to
Tell me when it is readyEmail address and which resource you asked aboutTo write to you once, when that guide or calendar is published. It does not subscribe you to the newsletter
Careers applicationsContact details, qualifications, employment history and anything else you submitTo assess your application
Website analyticsPages visited, approximate location, device and browserTo understand which content is useful

We do not require an account, and the tax calculator and the deadline panel work without collecting anything at all. Health Check answers stay in your browser unless you choose to send them to us.

Our lawful basis

We process personal data on one of the following bases:

  • Your consent, for the newsletter and for sending you a Health Check report. You can withdraw it at any time.
  • Performance of a contract, or steps taken at your request before entering one, for proposals and engagements.
  • Legal obligation, including anti-money laundering client due diligence and the record retention our professional standards require.
  • Legitimate interests, for responding to enquiries and for understanding how the website is used, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.

Who we share it with

We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for anybody else's marketing.

We share it only where necessary: with the members of our own team working on your matter, with service providers who host our systems under written terms requiring them to protect it, with our professional indemnity insurers and advisers where relevant, and where the law or a regulator requires disclosure.

Where a service provider is outside Ghana, we satisfy ourselves that the data will be protected to an equivalent standard before transferring it.

How long we keep it

We keep personal data for as long as we need it and no longer.

  • Enquiries that do not become engagements: two years, then deleted.
  • Client engagement records: for the period our professional and statutory obligations require, which is normally at least six years after the engagement ends.
  • Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe.
  • Resource notification requests: until the resource is published and you have been told, or until you ask us to remove you, whichever comes first. Reply to any message from us, or write to info@elixiraudits.com.
  • Unsuccessful job applications: twelve months, unless you ask us to keep you on file.

How we protect it

Access is limited to those who need it. Systems are password protected and access is withdrawn when someone leaves. Documents you send through the website are treated as confidential: access is restricted to those who need it to respond to your enquiry or provide the service, subject to the limited disclosures described under who we share it with.

No transmission over the internet is completely secure. If you are sending something particularly sensitive and would prefer another route, call us and we will arrange one.

Your rights

Under the Data Protection Act 2012 (Act 843) you have the right to:

  • ask what personal data we hold about you and be given a copy;
  • have inaccurate data corrected;
  • ask us to delete data, where we are not required to keep it;
  • object to processing, including direct marketing; and
  • complain to the Data Protection Commission if you are not satisfied with how we have handled a request.

To exercise any of these, email info@elixiraudits.com. We will respond within the statutory period. There is no charge unless a request is manifestly unfounded or excessive.

Changes to this notice

We review this notice at least annually and whenever our processing changes materially. The date at the top of this page is the date of the current version. Where a change materially affects you, we will tell you rather than relying on you noticing.
